Individual Volunteering
Opportunities
Volunteers are the foundation of our organization.
It is through the generous donation of your time and talent that we are able to build safe, decent, and affordable homes for hard-working, qualified families throughout Essex County.
Age requirements – Please note that the minimum age for all volunteers on a building site is 16.
(see specifics below based on there you will be volunteering)
Build Site Volunteers – No experience- no problem! If you are looking for local volunteering opportunities to do some community service, acquire new skills, or put existing building skills to work, we welcome you to volunteer with Essex County Habitat and experience the joy of seeing a new family move into their home as a result of your contributions.
Volunteers between the ages of 16 and 17 will be required to have a chaperone and may be limited to what work they can complete on-site and what sites are available.
ReStore Volunteers help to keep store operations running smoothly. From sales floor merchandising to customer service, volunteers help do it all! One day you may be cleaning, testing and pricing donations and the next you may be helping happy customers to their cars with their purchases. Come volunteer your time in the fun and fast paced environment of a ReStore.
Two-hour minimum shifts are available at the Lawrence ReStore between 10 am and 5 pm, Tuesday through Saturday, and will be scheduled at a time convenient to you.
Volunteers between the ages of 16 and 17 should connect with our Volunteer Coordinator to inquire about availability and our chaperone policy.
Fill out the Individual Volunteer Inquiry Form and our Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch within a few days.
Youth Volunteers can help by preparing lunch for a build-site volunteer group or organizing donations drives for our ReStore.
If you have a group of youth and/or student volunteers interested in helping out, contact our Volunteer Coordinator to learn more.
Fill out the Youth Volunteer Inquiry Form and our Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch within a few days.
Skilled Construction Volunteers are always in need at our building sites. Whether you are an electrician, painter, plumber, HVAC technician, carpenter, or other construction trade you could sign up to donate your time and skills to help build a home for a local family.
Additional individual volunteer opportunities are available for those who may be interested in working on one of our committees, planning events, or offering pro bono services.
To learn more about how you can help, email our Volunteer Coordinator or call 978-681-8858 ext. 3.
