Join our Women Build event

Our Women Build event provides the opportunity for women to take a proactive step in serving their communities.

Women Build opportunities are available across Essex County, and any woman who wants to learn how to build and construct a home is invited to join us. No experience is necessary. Volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals, and also alongside other volunteers and future Habitat homeowners. Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding a few to your tool belt, this is a rewarding experience for all involved and improves the community that you share.

Women Build is also a terrific way to involve your friends and family of all ages in crucial work with a lasting impact. Women helping women sends a positive and powerful message. You can also come alone, and make new friends. The atmosphere is collaborative and friendly.

Since 1991, Women Build volunteers from all walks of life have come together to build stronger, safer communities.

What your day will be like:

A full day commitment is expected of all who choose to volunteer. You’ll start the morning with an orientation and group photo, then start work on your assigned task at 8:30 am, break for lunch at noon, finish at 3:30 pm and then clean up.

You should bring a lunch, snacks and water. Be prepared to work outdoors – rain or shine or snow, so please dress accordingly. Bring a hat and work gloves if you have them. Wear boots or sneakers – definitely no open toed shoes.

We know you’ll enjoy this very rewarding experience!

About each build site:

Our Lawrence project will include two semi-detached homes; a three-bedroom and a four-bedroom, and provide two families with the foundation for success and a better future. We have recently laid the foundation and are now in the process of framing the homes.

Our Peabody project is also a rehabilitation of a home that was previously owned by a Habitat family and sold back to Habitat. The home is being cleaned out, renovated and re-painted for a new family to move into.
