- Schools (colleges and high schools)
- Alumni groups
- Faith communities
- Community and civic organizations
Age requirements
The minimum age is 16.
Any volunteers under the age of 18 will be required to have a chaperone and may be limited to what work they can complete on-site.

Why is there a cost associated with the program? It takes both volunteer labor and financial support to keep Essex County Habitat for Humanity homes affordable for local hardworking families. The cost to build a new Essex County Habitat home (without accounting for volunteer labor) is approximately $250,000. Without volunteers AND corporate partners, like you, Essex County Habitat for Humanity would not be able to help as many families in need of a hand-up. Your financial support truly matters as we work to change lives and strengthen neighborhoods.
