Going green in Lynn

When we rehabbed this home in Lynn, we took extra steps to ensure it was energy efficient and climate friendly for the future. It no longer uses a fossil fuel system, but a mini-split electric heating system and solar panels to generate all of its electricity needs. Additionally, the solar panels can generate excess electricity which is sold back to National Grid resulting in low total utility costs for the home owner.

We thank Schneider Electric for their generous grant to purchase and install the system as well as Andy DePietro of Climate Zone for installing it.

Who is the typical Habitat Homeowner?

Homeowners have stable incomes – however, many work in lower paying industries (frontline healthcare workers, educators, retail employees, office management, etc) and sometimes work two or more jobs to support their household

Homeowners are low to moderate income families (for a family of 4, total household income must be between $44,700 and $84,120 depending on the location of the property)

Almost all of our homeowners and applicants own cars and are not solely reliant on public transportation

Homeowners are often parents who want nothing more than stability and hope of a future for their children
