Four families selected for Hamilton homes
Four deserving families found out their lives were about to change at the lottery held last week to select the partner families for Phase 1 of the Hamilton project. As the family numbers were pulled out of the bag, a gasp could be heard in the room as the one family that attended in person (others attended virtually) had her number announced.
Seeing Andrea overcome with emotion and excitement was uplifting, especially when, through tears, she said she had promised her 7-year-old daughter a dog if they won. She is a school teacher who has a second job in a restaurant to be able to keep up with her bills, and will soon begin helping to build her 2-bedroom home.
Lauren, who has worked full time at a nursing facility for the last 18 years, as well as part time at Lowe's to supplement her income, and her two daughters were selected for the other 2-bedroom home.
Yaddira, a veteran who served in Afghanistan, is very thankful to be partnering with Habitat on a 3-bedroom home. She and her two children had to move in with family when their rent became unaffordable.
Also, living temporarily with family, Deanna and her three children are overcrowded in the family member's 2-bedroom home. She is looking forward to the permanence and space her new 3-bedroom Habitat home will provide.
Thank you for your support that has allowed these four families' dreams to come true!
