Congratulations to Yenny and Ana and their families!
On Tuesday, November 21 we celebrated these two families becoming homeowners with a Home Dedication as we finished up the project in Lawrence.
After working 240 hours each to help build them, Yenny and Ana now have a permanent and affordable place to call home. These single mothers are so happy to be able to provide each of their children with their own bedroom, but even more so, with some stability.
They are proud of what they have accomplished and extremely thankful for you, our volunteers and donors, without whom this wouldn't have been possible.
is a recent grad trying to figure out what to do next
is taking a gap year
wants to try out a career in construction
is looking to gain real world and leadership experience
In the Construction Crew Leader position, you will learn carpentry skills and gain supervisory experience as you lead groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers and homeowners in construction activities at the build site. No construction experience is necessary - we’ll teach you. You just need to be hard working, dedicated, stong and good with people.
This service term is for 10.5 month and pays a $17,600 living allowance for a Tuesday through Saturday, 7:30am - 4:30pm work week.
We would like to thank IBEW Local 103 for being long time supporters of Essex County Habitat. Not only do they donate electrical supplies and materials, but they offer staff support as well. In fact, it was through Local 103 that we met, Bill Mahoney. He is a retired electrician, who is now our Habitat Electrical Consultant doing the electrical work for our homes. Without their help, we wouldn't be able to meet our mission!
Thank you for your support
Many thanks to everyone who supported us on a build site or at the ReStore this past month! Below are just a few of those who did.
We'd also like to recognize the following organization that offered its support:
The Clark R. Smith Family Foundation granted us a very generous donation to support affordable homeownership and families in need. We are truly grateful for their support.
"This little Civic has a special spot in my heart. My Green Pea was my life's companion for 26 years through all the good and all the bad she was my constant. We had adventures all over the States, Canada and Mexico. We shared countless memories but my favorite is when we brought home my first baby from the hospital. I chose Habitat for Humanity because I wanted the next chapter in Green Pea's life to be meaningful. She still has a lot of life to live and can continue to be there for someone in need."
Thank you, Rhiannon, for donating your Honda Civic and #MakingADifference in your community! Your generosity is truly appreciated, and it's a great way to make an impact in the lives of those around you.
Thank you to Danvers Community Access TV for hosting our very first Gingerbread House Contest. Prizes were donated by our sponsor, Texas Roadhouse in Danvers. Participants were judged Most Creative, Best Use of a Theme, and Most Classic Style. All were exceptional! Congrats to Santa’s Helpers for winning Most Creative with their Christmas Village. Take a look at their masterpiece!
