August 2026 News

Application Deadline Extended to September 10

We have extended the application deadline for a 3-bedroom affordable homeownership opportunity in Haverhill to September 10th.  If you or someone you know may be interested, there is still time to apply.

The 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom new-build home with a garage is located at 41 Curtis Street. The approximately 1200 square foot unit is part of a duplex and will be sold for $245,000 or less. This is a unique chance for a well-qualified family to purchase an affordable home in a highly competitive housing market.

Unlike typical Habitat home opportunities, because of the withdrawal of a previously selected applicant, applications for this home will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, and no lottery will be held. The first fully qualified applicant who meets financial eligibility requirements will be accepted, pending a family interview.

“This is a rare opportunity for someone who may have missed out before,” said Carol Susi, Homeowner Services Coordinator. “A town employee or teacher could be a great fit for this home. These units provide homeownership for less than what many people are paying in rent today.”

“The staggering cost of housing in Massachusetts is pushing families out of our region,” Susi added. “If you earn $68,560 or more as a family of 3 or 4, you may qualify to purchase this 3-bedroom home at a price that truly makes homeownership attainable.”

Once selected, the future homeowner will enter Habitat for Humanity’s Affordable Homeownership Program, volunteering with others before purchasing the home with an affordable 30-year mortgage.

“Our goal is to partner with people as they build a stable foundation for themselves and their families” said Kevin Hudson, Director of Charitable Giving for Essex County Habitat for Humanity. “Having an affordable place to live allows people to focus on their futures and their communities.”

Thank you for your support

This month we were able to thank some of our volunteers with complimentary tickets to a Red Sox game. We thank the Red Sox, MLB Commissioner's Officer, and the Players Give Back Program for selecting us to participate in the Red Sox Community Initiative!

We'd also like to recognize the following organization that offered support:

We are incredibly grateful to the George and Winifred Moseley Foundation for their recent generous grant. Thank you for investing in local families and helping us build a stronger Essex County together!

Opening Doors to Affordable Housing

Join us on September 24 for the Building Dreams Gala!

During the event, we will honor Stuart Johnson with the Keystone Partner Award. Stuart began his Habitat journey as a volunteer with his church and quickly deepened his involvement, becoming a longtime and dedicated board member.

We will also recognize TruNorth Bank with the Community Builder Award. A longtime supporter of Habitat, TruNorth also generously donates the space that we call home.

Come celebrate these champions of affordable housing with us! Tickets, tables, sponsorships, and program book ads are available by clicking below.
