November 2025 News

Property purchased in Ipswich for 2 affordable homes

Essex County Habitat for Humanity just purchased land from the Ipswich Housing Authority on which we will build a duplex that two families in need of affordable housing will call home.

Because the Ipswich Housing Authority shares the mission of providing safe, decent and affordable housing opportunities for Ipswich residents, they chose to sell the property at less than market value. The town also supported the project by funding the purchase through the Ipswich Affordable Housing Trust.

We are excited about this opportunity to help two more families and we thank the Town of Ipswich for their support!

I'd like to support families in need!

Help get more housing on the 2026 ballot!

Join AHMA, Cambridge City Councilor Burhan Azeem, and the Legalize Starter Homes Ballot Initiative in a Day of Action this weekend!

The Legalize Starter Homes Ballot Initiative is an effort to update restrictive zoning to make it easier for working families, young people, and seniors to afford homes in Massachusetts.

The campaign has collected 70,000 of the 74,574 signatures required and needs your support to reach their goal by next Wednesday, November 19.

Can you spend a couple of hours outside your local grocery store or at a community event collecting signatures from your neighbors? Fill out this form if you are available on November 15 or 16 to help meet our goal of 74,574 signatures before the filing deadline!

If you can't volunteer, we can still use your signature. Click here for instructions on how to print and sign your own petition form.

Thank you for your support
