DANVERS – Students filled the Danvers High School gymnasium on Friday for the 10th annual Falcon Internship Fair, where they shared their experiences over the last five weeks working hands-on in fields they’re hoping to enter – like nursing, education, plumbing, auto mechanics, real estate, and local govenrment.

“It’s sort of a natural way for them to end their school career,” Danvers High principal Adam Federico said. “They take everything they’ve learned over four years, and then go out into the job world to see everything in action.”

“Internship opportunities are so incredibly valuable for students,” intership coordinator Kaarin Robinson said. “Not only do our seniors get to see what the road ahead of them might look like, but they get the opportunity to work with professionals and network in their fields before they even finish high school.” …

…Working with Distributive Education Clubs of America, students interested in nonprofit work, like Sammy Fay, were connected with organizations such as the Essex County chapter of Habitat for Humantiy that provided valuable hands-on experience with the inner workings of nonprofit management.

“I was surprised by just how many roles there are,” Fay said. “I worked with the volunteer coordinator, the director of charitable giving, their marketing person – and they all have such an important role to make the organization work.

“There’s not one person who makes them successful, they all play a specific role in the company.”
