Essex County Habitat for Humanity (ECH) is pleased to recently welcomed Tina Benik as its new board president, along with three new members joining the organization’s Board of Directors: Paola Rosario, Rebecca Jablonowski and Jonathan Berk.

Benik has served on the ECH board since 2020, including as chair of its development committee and as a member of the governance and executive committees. A Newburyport resident, she brings a strong understanding of the region’s affordable housing needs to her new leadership role.

“Affordable housing is the foundation of family stability. When we help provide affordable housing so that hardworking families aren’t forced to choose between paying high mortgage payments and buying groceries, we create stable households where children thrive and entire communities grow stronger,” said Benik.

Benik said she is also looking forward to beginning her tenure alongside ECH’s new executive director, Kevin Moore, whose experience will help the organization accelerate its impact in the community.

Rosario, founder and president of Rokx Services, a certified construction company based in Lawrence, brings extensive experience in construction management and general contracting throughout Massachusetts.

“As someone who works in construction and understands the importance of safe, affordable housing, I have seen how a stable home can transform lives and create opportunities for future generations,” said Rosario. “I look forward to contributing my experience, building meaningful partnerships, and helping Habitat continue its mission of empowering families throughout Essex County.”

Jablonowski brings 25 years of experience serving clients in the life sciences, higher education, and healthcare sectors, with expertise spanning design and construction management, facilities management, construction engineering, feasibility studies and project estimating.

“I want to give back to my community and use my design and construction management experience to help deliver meaningful projects that change lives. Everyone deserves a safe, stable home to call their own,” said Jablonowski.

Berk, founder of re:MAIN, a planning and development advisory practice focused on unlocking housing production, brings expertise in land use law, community development, real estate feasibility and housing policy. He also serves as board chair of Abundant Housing Massachusetts and has served on the city of Salem Planning Board for four years.

“Advocacy and implementation need each other,” said Berk. “I’m eager to bring what I know about land use, feasibility, and housing policy reforms to help Habitat build more homes for more families across Essex County.”
