Danvers, MA — Essex County Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce it received a Nissan Frontier pickup truck from Nissan. The donation is part of Nissan’s $800K national partnership renewal with Habitat for Humanity International to support local Habitat affiliates across the U.S.
With the donation this year, Essex County Habitat will be able to transport material needed to rehabilitate homes through their Critical Home Repair program. The Critical Home Repair program is an extension of Habitat’s core construction services and uses volunteers, donated product and flexible sources of funding to make repairs affordable, helping low-income and elderly homeowners continue to live independently and safely in their own residences.
“The donation of this truck will allow us to be more efficient with our time and resources and enable us to help even more families. We’re thankful to Nissan for their generous support,” expressed Kevin Hudson, Director of Charitable Giving for Essex County Habitat.
Nissan has contributed more than $21 million to Habitat nationally since the partnership began in 2005 when Nissan donated 50 trucks and mobilized employees to assist in home building following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the Gulf Coast region. Nissan has continued its support through the years by donating an additional 160 vehicles to support construction activities and disaster recovery efforts. Furthermore, Nissan’s employees have contributed more than 112,400 volunteer hours working alongside future homeowners in communities across the U.S.
“Habitat for Humanity is committed to direct and meaningful contributions to communities across the country and these shared values form the foundation of our longstanding and successful partnership,” said Chandra Vassar, chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at Nissan Americas and president of the Nissan Foundation. “For more than 18 years, they’ve been one of Nissan’s most trusted and valued partners. We hope our continued support will help Habitat further their own mission, drive giving, and encourage the public to get involved with their own local Habitat affiliate.”
